How to Choose a Business Card Scanner App

The right business card scanner app depends on what you need after capture. Check whether it lets you review contact fields, export the data, and control any follow-up. A card image alone is not a complete contact record.

What must a business card scanner app do?

  • Extract the name, email address, phone number, and company from the card.
  • Show the original card beside the extracted fields for review.
  • Keep saved contacts available when you need them.
  • Export contact data in a format your other tools can use.
  • Let you review a message before you send it.

Test a card with small text, more than one phone number, and a layout you often receive. Check the result with your own card.

What does a free business card scanner include?

Check the current store listing for scan limits, export restrictions, and purchases. A free download does not necessarily include the same features in every app.

Can a business card scanner work offline?

Folocard runs card capture and text recognition on the device. Follow-up drafting uses a compatible on-device model. Download the model before you need it offline.

Optional public-web research uses network access. Local processing does not mean that every optional action works without a connection. The privacy policy explains each network use.

Can I export business cards to Excel or contacts?

Folocard offers Export all to CSV in Settings under Data. Use the business card to Excel guide for the import steps.

For one contact, use the vCard share action. The receiving app controls the contact import. An open share sheet does not prove that the app kept the contact.

For a stack of cards, use the bulk scanning guide. CSV export supplies a file. It does not automatically update a CRM.

How does capture help with follow-up?

Add a note about the meeting and the agreed next step. Folocard can prepare a draft with an on-device model. You review the result and select the external app that sends it.
